Bluegrass Bluesman originated from an interview I did with legendary Dobroist Josh Graves. It was beautifully assembled and accomplished by author Fred Bartenstein. I had four cassette tapes and a printout of the conversation with Uncle Josh at his home, planning to write his autobiography someday. I never got around to doing so. A couple years after this interview, Fred Bartenstein was soliciting worldwide for a new, worthwhile project he could pursue. I contacted him and he liked what I had. We worked diligently for a year or so and he completed a fine book worthy of Josh’s family. I’m glad Fred and I could collaborate on this project together. Unfortunately, Uncle Josh passed on before we were able to have the book ready for him. The book is for Josh’s family. Published by University of Illinois Press 2012.
